Hayley “Diablo” Eckman was born in April of 2005 and was purchased on the side of the road at a flea market in Maggie Valley, NC. She was the last of 6 jack russell puppies in a wire cage between the golf clubs and silverware. As we walked through, my daughter Logan saw this little cowering hamster sized dog trembling with terror as Harley Davidson riders would pass by. Logan said, “Oh Daddy, look how cute!” Big Al said, “No way! Put it back. No one wants a wimpy puppy.” Plus the guy wanted $350 for the dog. As my daughters Ashlynd, Logan, and Winter’s persistence and determination proceeded to wear me down along with 4 sets of puppy-dog eyes grilling down on my weak will power to say no for the last time, I offered the guy $275. Sold! Of course after two weeks and many piles of poop to pick up around the house, the dog became mine and the rest is history. Now Hayley is the greatest loved mascot in all of Rock Hill and people have offered big dollars to take her home. Of course some answers never change... “No Way!”.
